No attacks are known yet against SHA-256. SHA-256 is a 256-bit cryptographically secure one-way hash function.
SHA-256 is used to hash the master key components. The complete database is encrypted, not only the password fields. Federal government standard and is approved by the National Security Agency (NSA) for top secret information. Both of these ciphers are regarded as being very secure. KeePass supports the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES, Rijndael) and the Twofish algorithm to encrypt its password databases. You can put all your passwords in one database, which is locked with one master key or a key file. Once the progress bar disappears, the import is complete.
Depending on the size of the database being imported, this should take a few seconds to a few minutes.
A progress bar should appear for the import process. If you are importing into an empty database, this does not matter, and using the default selection "Create new IDs" will suffice. This will determine what to do if a conflict occurs when importing (eg: if you import a password or group that already exists in your database). You will be prompted to select an import behaviour. When prompted for the "Master Password" enter "export_password" (without the quotation marks) and click OK. Select the file you want to import (same as the file you exported to in the previous section). Choose the file format you wish to import (same as what you exported to in the previous section).
